The Wheat Ridge Farmers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 49-26 defeat at the hands of Golden. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Wheat Ridge has suffered against Golden since February 14, 2019.
Among those leading the charge was Presley Kirkpatrick, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Allie Neal, who scored 12 points.
Wheat Ridge bumped their record down to 6-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.7 points per game. As for Golden, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Wheat Ridge will head out on the road to square off against Conifer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Conifer comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Golden, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alameda at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Alameda focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Friday.
