Scranton has won five straight games at home, while North Pocono has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Knights will welcome the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. The last three games Scranton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Scranton took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Scranton Prep, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights beat the Cavaliers on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-3. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Thor Kelly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Henry Bartlebaugh, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.
While North Pocono didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Delaware Valley on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
North Pocono also got a great performance from Nick Reese as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. Reese has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jake Reese was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Bassi, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
North Pocono's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Scranton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
