Bryan has gone a perfect 3-0 against Hilltop recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Golden Bears will take on the Cadets at 5:00 p.m. Bryan will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Bryan's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Liberty Center 10-0. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.
Mylie Vollmer and Josey Arnold did most of the damage at the plate: Vollmer went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Arnold went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Arnold a new career-high. Taylor Dominique also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Bryan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Hilltop's offense. They fell 4-0 to Montpelier on Thursday. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Cadets, who fell 6-4 when the teams last met back in May of 2024.
Hilltop saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Halle Jones, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base.
Bryan pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Hilltop, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-3.
Both Bryan and Hilltop just can't seem to miss. The Golden Bears have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Hilltop struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bryan skirted past Hilltop 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
