Basketball Recap: Mason Mcintyre Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Willcox

There's no place like home for Benson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Willcox Cowboys out 49-46. The Bobcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cowboys, too.

Benson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Mcintyre led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Mcintyre a new career-high in steals (four). Dawson Judd was another key player, putting up five points along with six assists and five boards.

Benson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

With the win, Benson broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-13. As for Willcox, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Benson Bobcats face off against the St. David Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Benson is facing St. David at the right time seeing as St. David is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Willcox, they will welcome St. Augustine Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
