The biggest upset of the week belonged to Northland Christian, who defeated 498th ranked Fort Bend Christian Academy, 26-21.
Pope John XXIII scaled the state rankings by moving to 500 from 552 this week, the biggest jump in TAPPS Division II District 4. The Lions were able to move up by topping Lutheran South Academy 37-23.
Trent Franson threw for 359 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Franson put up the best numbers through the air as the Pioneers fell to Pope John XXIII. Franson's favorite target this week was Jordan Barton, who caught 8 passes for 163 yards.
Lutheran South Academy's Franson and Barton have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Franson has thrown for 1,730 yards this season, while Barton has 48 catches for 884 yards. Greg Moore from Scot Mills' team leads the league in rushing with 953 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Fort Bend Christian Academy takes on second place Pope John XXIII. Last week, the Eagles fell to the Cougars, while the Lions defeated Stephen Robbins' team.
Pope John XXIII's Moore is a mere 47 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 122 carries Moore has put up 953 yards this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when David Roberts' team takes on the Lions. The Eagles have allowed 86 points this season, while Pope John XXIII has given up 126. Fort Bend Christian Academy allowed 26 points last week as it fell to Northland Christian.
The Lions led TAPPS Division II District 4 in scoring this week after putting up 37 points on the Pioneers. Moore ran for 204 yards during the win.
