The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Musselman. Buckhannon-Upshur was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Musselman apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklyn Smith, who scored eight points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Casadie Lahman, who scored seven points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Buckhannon-Upshur's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. As for Musselman, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckhannon-Upshur will take on Hampshire at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Hampshire is ranked 67th, while Buckhannon-Upshur is ranked 74th). Musselman will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hedgesville at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
