Woodgrove is 0-8 against John Champe since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Both teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Woodgrove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,072 points over their last 16 matches.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Woodgrove beat Tuscarora 59-54.
Woodgrove got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Colin Fuller out in front who scored 20 points. Dane Marsh was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, John Champe strolled past Dominion with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 66-51. Given John Champe's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Dominion is ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodgrove is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for John Champe, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.
Woodgrove couldn't quite finish off John Champe when the teams last played back in December of 2022 and fell 48-45. Can Woodgrove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
