The Lovington Wildcats will square off against the Portales Rams at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both come into the  contest bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
 Lovington is headed out to face Portales after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Lovington came out on top against Hobbs by a score of  31-22  on Friday. The  win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on eight straight dating back to last season.
  Mathew Prudencio was the offensive standout of the  match as he threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.  Ondalis Cardenas helped  Prudencio out on the ground, rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown.
 Lovington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over.  Jayden Gutierrez led the group effort, picking up three of those  interceptions all by himself.
 Meanwhile, Portales had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed  a  22-16 victory over Goddard.
 Portales wouldn't let Goddard keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Portales can thank  Tommy Lopez and  Tony Rodriguez for forcing both of them.  Manny Chavez was another major factor on D,  making 18 total tackles.
 Everything came up roses for Lovington against Portales in their previous meeting  back in November of 2023 as the  team secured  a  57-21 win. Does  Lovington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Portales turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
