After a string of three wins, the Thomas Jefferson Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. Their rough 71-46 loss to Vista PEAK Prep might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Thomas Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Vista PEAK Prep is ranked 20th).
Thomas Jefferson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being William Perkins, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Doren Sacha, who scored 11 points.
Vista PEAK Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was James Brown III out in front who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Brown III has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alante Monroe-Elazier, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Thomas Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thomas Jefferson will take on Denver East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Thomas Jefferson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they will be playing at home against Denver South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vista PEAK Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 487 points over their last six matchups.
