Gretna is 3-0 against the Bears since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Gretna Dragons will head out on the road to challenge the Bryan Bears at 5:15 p.m. Gretna is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Gretna suffered a tough 63-39 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. Gretna has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their match on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Gretna's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Maggie Miller, who scored ten points, and Ava Mcartor who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Bryan, who are still winless after their 15th matchup. They were beaten by Kearney 66-3 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Bryan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Bearcats are ranked 99th).
Gretna has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Bryan, their loss dropped their record down to 0-15.
Everything came up roses for Gretna against the Bears when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 45-5 win. With Gretna ahead 40-1 at the half, the game was all but over already.
