The Fletcher Senators missed an extra point against the First Coast Buccaneers on Thursday and it came back to haunt them. Fletcher was just a hair shy of victory and fell 28-27 to First Coast. Fletcher's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Fletcher still got an impressive performance from Marcelis Tate, who rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 236 yards and a touchdown. Trevor Bryan also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Fletcher's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
First Coast can attribute much of their success to Auston Harris, who rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns. Rodney Tisdale Jr was another key contributor, throwing for 192 yards and a touchdown while completing 77.3% of his passes.
Fletcher's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for First Coast, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Fletcher will look to defend their home field on Friday against Atlantic Coast at 6:00 p.m. Atlantic Coast is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for First Coast, they will head out on the road to face off against Andrew Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on November 3rd. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Andrew Jackson has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while First Coast will arrive with three straight wins.
