Basketball Recap: Culver Academies' Run of Nine Straight Victories Now Over

Culver Academies dropped down to 11-4 on Tuesday, ending the team's nine-game streak of wins. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bremen Lions. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Culver Academies' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laine Lyles, who posted 19 points and six rebounds. Lyles is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Amelia Binkley was another key player, putting up eight points and ten boards.

As for Bremen, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0. Those 39 points were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Bremen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eliana Grubbs, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Feathers, who put up seven points and seven boards.

Culver Academies and Bremen should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Eagles (ranked 88th) will meet LaVille (ranked 274th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bremen will face off against Triton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (16 vs. 281).
