Basketball Recap: Anthony Zink's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kennedy over Conifer

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Kennedy was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They came up short against the Conifer Lobos, falling 50-29. While losing is never fun, the Commanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Lobos are ranked 97th).

Kennedy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Anthony Zink, who posted 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Zink is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Trujillo, who had seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Conifer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaac Pratt, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Benson White, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points.

Kennedy is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Conifer, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Kennedy and DSST: College View will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. DSST: College View will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Kennedy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Conifer, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Conifer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.
