The Mechanicsville Mustangs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by King William on the road and fell 42-14. Mechanicsville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Leading King William to victory were James Stewart and Jahmari Dupree-Wade. Stewart rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns, while Dupree-Wade rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Marty Braxton got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Mechanicsville's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. As for King William, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mechanicsville is on the road again on Friday and play against Atlee at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. As for King William, they will square off against West Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Point knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully King William likes a good challenge.
