The Glenbrook South Titans will challenge the Niles West Wolves at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Niles West took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Glenbrook South, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Glenbrook South turned things around against Evanston on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Wildkits with a sharp 9-1 win. The matchup marked the Titans' most dominant victory of the season.
Addy Hurley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Buckingham, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Alex Hafeman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Glenbrook South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Niles West lost 12-4 to Mundelein on Saturday.
Ava Kolbe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sarah Park, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Glenbrook South's win bumped their record up to 5-22. As for Niles West, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.
Glenbrook South came out on top in a nail-biter against Niles West in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
