The Fontainebleau Bulldogs will head out to take on Lakeshore at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fontainebleau is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
While Fontainebleau's win against St. Thomas Aquinas wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs skirted past the Falcons 9-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Bailey Lagman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caroline Stephens, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was McKinley Mardis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Lakeshore made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pope John Paul II on Friday. Lakeshore was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over Pope John Paul II. Considering Lakeshore has won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lakeshore also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Annabella Litolff gave up three earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, Lakeshore got a massive performance out of Aubrey Gaudet, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Gaudet has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times she's played. Tannah Willie was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Fontainebleau's record is now 10-18. As for Lakeshore, their record now sits at 12-10.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fontainebleau hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Lakeshore struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fontainebleau might still be hurting after the 18-2 loss they got from Lakeshore when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
