With a playoff win on the line, Southwest Florida Christian rose to the challenge on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand The Classical Academy of Sarasota Patriots a 15-0 shutout. The King's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Boston Berge and Reed Guess made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Berge pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Guess pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Berge went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Guess got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Berge has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Logan Waldrup was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Southwest Florida Christian: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Romie Afanador, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Southwest Florida Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the victory, Southwest Florida Christian broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-10. As for The Classical Academy of Sarasota, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-10.
