Greenbrier East had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They snuck past the Sissonville Indians with a 56-51 victory on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Sissonville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Hillabold, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Hillabold a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaela Ullman, who posted seven points along with nine boards and five steals.
Greenbrier East's victory bumped their record up to 24-1. As for Sissonville, their loss dropped their record down to 19-6.
Looking ahead, Greenbrier East will square off against Wayne at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Greenbrier East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Wayne likes a good challenge. Sissonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
