Two dominant guards in Tahj Jones and Michael Timpano are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Windham Whippets will be playing at home against the East Lyme Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Windham's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 77-55 defeat at the hands of New London. While losing is never fun, Windham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Whalers are ranked 12th).
Windham's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jones, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds, and Malcolm Hunter who scored 15 points along with two steals and two blocks. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games.
Meanwhile, East Lyme was beaten by the Saints 76-43 on Friday. East Lyme has not had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Windham now has a losing record at 7-8. As for East Lyme, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-6.
Windham was able to grind out a solid victory over the Vikings in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 58-48. Will Windham repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
