The American Canyon Wolves will take on the Rodriguez Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
American Canyon proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Vacaville 8-6.

Kate Sosa was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, American Canyon got a big performance out of Deja Montgomery, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Montgomery has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Ianna Lobao, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
American Canyon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vacaville struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Crushers, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since April 25, 2025.
Angel Boot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Rodriguez saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Steiger, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Steiger's first of the season.
American Canyon now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Rodriguez, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. American Canyon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rodriguez struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
American Canyon might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Rodriguez in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Will the Wolves have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
