The Lowell Red Raiders took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They snuck past Lowell Catholic with a 35-29 victory.
Lowell Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Meredith Morey, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Avery Tucker, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lowell Catholic were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lowell's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Lowell Catholic, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Lowell will head out on the road to face off against Lowell Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lowell Catholic, they will be playing at home against Lowell at 6:30 p.m.
