After a string of three wins, the Fauquier Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 52-45 to Millbrook. Fauquier lost against the Pioneers in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-18 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millbrook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michaela Owens, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Owens has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Valentina Burrill, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Fauquier's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Millbrook, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fauquier is on the road again on Friday and plays the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Manassas Park comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Millbrook, they will head out on the road to square off against the Judges at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Handley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully the Pioneers like a good challenge.
