V Section I recap Oct. 3, 2012
Hopi was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in V Section I. The Bruins vanquished Greyhills Academy 20-14 earlier in the week.
Williams extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Page, 49-13. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Williams' dynamic duo of Jeff Brownlee and Adrian Solano proved tough for the Sand Devils to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brownlee threw for 299 yards and four touchdowns and Solano had 137 yards receiving. Coty Baxter helped Williams' passing attack out by catching three balls for 113 yards.
Blake Sekaquaptewa was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 202 yards on 39 carries as Hopi bested Page. Mike Naha also contributed to the rushing game with 22 yards on the ground.
Hopi's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bruins feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Allen Joshevama has thrown for 1050 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Sekaquaptewa has 29 catches for 533 yards. Sekaquaptewa leads the league in rushing with 860 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Red Rock takes on Steve Saban's team. The Scorpions are in fifth place, while the Bruins are in third place.
