Castle View hasn't had much luck against Chaparral recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Sabercats will host the Wolverines at 4:15 p.m. Castle View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Castle View blew Highlands Ranch out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Highlands Ranch got their revenge. The Sabercats fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-3. Sabercats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Falcons since on Monday.
Gabriel Grandy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Tyler Feldhake made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Tommy Feldhake, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Chaparral's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Fairview by a score of 10-9.
Chaparral also got a good showing from Breck Johnson, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Josh McWilliams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Madden Kretzer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Castle View and nudges their season record down to 12-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both Castle View and Chaparral just can't seem to miss. The Sabercats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Chaparral struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Castle View was able to grind out a solid victory over Chaparral when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 7-3. Do the Sabercats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
