Black River is 2-8 against Keystone since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Black River Pirates on the road again and play against the Keystone Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Black River strolled past Rittman with points to spare, taking the game 54-35.
Meanwhile, Keystone put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Brookside on the road to the tune of 68-25. Keystone's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Keystone's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Helayna Houston led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Houston also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madyson Sokolowski, who scored 17 points along with four steals.
Black River is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Keystone, they pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Black River was dealt a bruising 61-27 loss at the hands of Keystone in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Black River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
