If the St. John Paul II Academy Eagles were riding high off their 87-55 takedown of the Inlet Grove Hurricanes last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. John Paul II Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 55-54 to Palm Beach Gardens. St. John Paul II Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Palm Beach Gardens apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rowan Linder, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dior Johnson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
St. John Paul II Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Palm Beach Gardens, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
St. John Paul II Academy will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Boynton Beach at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boynton Beach is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Palm Beach Gardens won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Foundation Academy at 3:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Hopefully Foundation Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday.
