South Lakes is 1-7 against Westfield since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South Lakes Seahawks will be playing at home against the Westfield Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South Lakes put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 45-3 victory over Centreville. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-3.
South Lakes' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Harris, who threw for 347 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of James Zschunke, who picked up 163 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Westfield at home against Chantilly on Friday as the squad secured a 56-12 victory. Given Westfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Chantilly is ranked 132nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Lakes' win was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. As for Westfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
South Lakes suffered a grim 40-15 defeat to Westfield when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will South Lakes have more luck at home instead of on the road?
