The University Cougars suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Cypress Creek by a score of 42-40. University's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why University lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacqueline Leap. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Leap has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Laura Martinez, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.

University has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Cypress Creek, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
University and Winter Park will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
