It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Venice Indians ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Manatee 57-54. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Venice also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2019.
Venice was led to victory by Griffin Moricz and Zeke Settles. Moricz scored 15 points along with eight rebounds, while Settles scored 14 points along with four steals. The matchup was Moricz's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcel Fil, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Venice now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Manatee, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Venice will take on Port Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Port Charlotte is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Manatee, they will head out on the road to face off against Boca Ciega at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Boca Ciega is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.5 points per game.
