Cedar Valley hasn't had much luck against Mountain Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Aviators will face off against the Sentinels at 3:30 p.m.
Cedar Valley is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Herriman on Tuesday. They lost 9-2 to the Mustangs.
Cedar Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aspen Langi, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge faced Westlake in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Sentinels put the hurt on the Thunder with a sharp 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Sentinels, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Sydney Lambert was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kelli Christiansen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Avery Rawlins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Mountain Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
Cedar Valley might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Mountain Ridge in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Aviators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
