Basketball Recap: Thomas County Central Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Thomas County Central entered their match against Northside on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Northside Eagles by a score of 32-29. The Yellow Jackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaida Rice, who posted eight points along with six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Rice a new career-high in steals. Jaida Pinkins was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Thomas County Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Thomas County Central's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-6. As for Northside, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Thomas County Central and Coffee will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Coffee's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests. As for Northside, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Houston County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northside has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
