Stratford and Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Stratford Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Stratford, who comes in off a win.
Even though Stratford has not done well against Maplewood recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Stratford walked away with a 58-46 win over Maplewood. The win made it back-to-back wins for Stratford.
Stratford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leonna Summers led the charge by scoring 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jamila Roper , who scored 10 points.
Meanwhile, Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were dealt a 63-2 loss at the hands of East Nashville Magnet last Tuesday.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Stratford's victory pushed their record up to 2-0, while Maplewood's loss dropped theirs down to 0-2.
Stratford won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, slipping by Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet 46-45. Will Stratford repeat their success, or does Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
