The Green Mountain Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Golden Demons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Green Mountain knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matchups -- so hopefully the Demons like a good challenge.
On Saturday, Green Mountain didn't have too much trouble with the Cougars on the road as they won 60-44.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Green Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blake Weslin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Simon Lunsford, who scored 19 points.
Golden can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They managed a 67-61 victory over Pomona. Given Golden's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Panthers are ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alex Erger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Leif Hansen, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Green Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Golden, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Green Mountain have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 45.8% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Golden struggles in that department as they've made 41.9% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Green Mountain took their victory against the Demons when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 75-51. With Green Mountain ahead 35-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
