The Sylmar Spartans were handed a three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against the San Fernando Tigers on Wednesday. Sylmar really took it to the Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 89-48 win on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Sylmar had established a 35 point advantage.
Sylmar was led to victory by Nathan Lee and Gustavo Lopez. Lee scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Lopez scored 17 points along with four steals and two blocks. Joseph Dickson, Jr was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight assists.
When it comes to explaining why San Fernando lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joshua Diplan. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Diplan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Christopher Bynum, who scored nine points.
Sylmar is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. As for San Fernando, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-13.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Kennedy the next time they take the court. Sylmar will host the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Tigers will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
