The Colleyville Heritage Panthers waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 63-50 victory over Birdville. Given Colleyville Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Hawks are ranked 680th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colleyville Heritage found their leader in underclassman Journee Hampton, who scored 29 points along with five steals. Hampton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Suliane Davis, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Colleyville Heritage has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. As for Birdville, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-21.
Colleyville Heritage will head out on the road to square off against the Raiders at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Ryan is on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Panthers a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Birdville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
