Scott Fennell and Billy Elliott provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Saltsburg. The connection went for 90 yards, the longest such play in Heritage this season.
Ligonier Valley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Trojans, 56-0. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Ligonier Valley's dynamic duo of Fennell and Elliott proved tough for Saltsburg to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fennell threw for 132 yards and one touchdown and Elliott had 90 yards receiving. Levi Gaynor helped Ligonier Valley's passing attack out by catching two balls for 30 yards.
Danny Ferens provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Penns Manor beat Blairsville. He completed two passes for 40 yards and also ran for 199 yards. Ferens' favorite target this week was Lucas Kowalski, who caught one pass for 22 yards.
The Bobcats' Scott Thompson and Bobby Thompson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thompson has thrown for 1015 yards this season, while Thompson, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 14 catches for 311 yards. Ferens from the Comets leads the league in rushing with 1102 yards.
The top two teams in Heritage will face off this week when first place Ligonier Valley takes on second place Penns Manor. Last week, Roger Beitel's team defeated Tim Frassenei's team, while Penns Manor topped Blairsville.
There should be lots of points scored when Bill Packer's team and the Rams face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Comets comes in having scored 257 this season, while Ligonier Valley has scored 299. Penns Manor scored 42 points last week as it bested Albert Dettorre's team.
The Comets made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,667 from 6,882. The improvement came about via a 42-28 victory over the Bobcats last week.
