The Boulder Creek Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the Sunnyslope Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Boulder Creek struggled with assists on Thursday (Pinnacle had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Boulder Creek took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pinnacle.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jackson Auditya, who scored 16 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Andrew Bhesania was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sunnyslope came tearing into Thursday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against O'Connor by a score of 76-66.
Sunnyslope's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Delton Prescott, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Prescott is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rider Portela, who scored 13 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Boulder Creek's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Sunnyslope, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Boulder Creek have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 8.1 threes per game. It's a different story for Sunnyslope, though, as they've been averaging only 7.9 threes per game. Given Boulder Creek's sizeable advantage in that area, Sunnyslope will need to find a way to close that gap.
Boulder Creek lost to Sunnyslope on the road by a decisive 69-50 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Boulder Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
