The Chaminade Eagles will take on the Westlake Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Chaminade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Chaminade is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Glendora 12-3. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Finley Suppan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Hogue, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Siena Greenlinger was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base.
Chaminade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 9-1-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Westlake was able to grind out a solid win over Schurr on Thursday, taking the game 7-3.
Westlake also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Presley Watters gave up three earned runs on seven hits. Watters has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Olivia Tirsch was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kira Palmer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Westlake's victory bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Chaminade, their win bumped their record up to 16-11-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Chaminade hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Westlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Chaminade came up short against Westlake in their previous meeting back in March of 2015, falling 7-2. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
