Basketball Recap: Nathaniel Perry Key Part of a Team Effort in Pirates Win

Matanzas lost to Flagler Palm Coast back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Matanzas Pirates enjoyed a cozy 53-36 victory over the Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Matanzas got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathaniel Perry out in front who went 7 for 10 en route to 20 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Perry has posted since back in November of 2024. Alexander Davis was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 20 boards.

Flagler Palm Coast's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jasiah Sanders, who posted six points and nine rebounds, and Nateshawn Royal, who earned ten points. Sanders has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last six times he's played.

Matanzas' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Flagler Palm Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Matanzas is taking a road trip to take on Menendez at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Matanzas is facing Menendez at the right time seeing as Menendez is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Flagler Palm Coast has already played their next matchup, a 71-67 win against Westside on the 24th.
