The James C Isabell Aklaqs will face off against the Shishmaref Northern Lights at 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
James C Isabell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on January 6th after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Gambell. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on January 5th (59), James C Isabell still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Shishmaref entered their tilt with Anthony Andrews with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Shishmaref strolled past Anthony Andrews with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 78-63. Shishmaref's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Among those leading the charge was Seth Nayokpuk, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Colton Hadley, who scored 15 points.
James C Isabell's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-2. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Shishmaref, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
James C Isabell couldn't quite finish off Shishmaref in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 and fell 34-32. Can James C Isabell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
