The Hunter Wolverines pushed their score all the way to 69 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 88-69 fall against Kearns. Hunter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kearns apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on January 3rd.
Hunter lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Uluaki Taukiuvea, who scored 20 points. Zaquel Cossa was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
Anywan Kuang was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-6 from long range and dropping a double-double on 34 points and 16 rebounds for Kearns. Kuang also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mauricio Lemus, who scored 20 points.
Hunter has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Kearns, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.
Hunter will head out on the road to face off against West Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kearns, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Granger is ranked 124th, while Kearns is ranked 108th).
