The Northwood Timberwolves have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Edison on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Northwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Edison is ranked 31st).
Northwood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zaid Yunis, who scored 23 points. The contest was Yunis' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Abaye, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Edison, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Northwood will be playing at home against Fountain Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fountain Valley is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Edison, they will face off against Lakewood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Lakewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight back in November.
