The Southside Cardinals will face off against the Victoria West Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southside is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
Southside can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 41-0 win over Winn.
Southside's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cayden Keeth, who threw for 158 yards and three touchdowns, and Jeremy Obregon, who picked up 101 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Victoria West, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-24 loss to Victoria East on Friday. Victoria West has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Victoria West got a solid performance out of Kamauri Montgomery, who rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Montgomery has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Repper, who rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Southside's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Cedar Creek and 1-9 Winn (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32% over those games). As for Victoria West, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
