Lake Brantley has gone 9-1 against Lake Mary recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Patriots will square off against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Lake Brantley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
If Lake Brantley beats Lake Mary with ten runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Patriots walked away with a 10-5 win over Boone on Wednesday.
Lauren Compton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayla Morris, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Auriana Turner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Lake Brantley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boone struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Lake Mary had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over Ocoee on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Rams as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Lake Mary also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Averie Morro gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Lake Mary let Clara Edwards and Madison Pennock run wild. Edwards went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Pennock went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Pennock a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaci Kidd, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Lake Brantley pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Lake Mary, their win bumped their record up to 6-19.
Lake Brantley's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Patriots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lake Mary, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lake Brantley continue to outrun the ball?
Lake Brantley took their victory against Lake Mary in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
