Lacey Stephenson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brianna Low was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Black, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Woden had just enough and edged out West Sabine 8-6 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly two runs.
Riley Taylor made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Taylor was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Woden got a massive performance out of Addison Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Jolette Montoya was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one triple.
Alto pushed their record up to 17-4-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Woden, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Alto has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Woden struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Alto skirted past Woden 6-5 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
