It was a good run, but the Roxboro Community Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a hard 61-46 fall against Vance Charter. The matchup was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but Roxboro Community couldn't quite close it out.
When it comes to explaining why Roxboro Community lost, one person who can't be blamed is Karrie Obie. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Obie hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Katherine-kaey "katie" Mann, who scored nine points along with two blocks.
Vance Charter was led to victory by Katherine Suther and Alyssa Bullock. Suther scored 24 points along with two steals, while Bullock dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 assists. Bullock is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Caelyn Bunn was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Roxboro Community's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6. As for Vance Charter, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Roxboro Community will take on the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vance Charter, they will head out on the road to square off against the Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oxford Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 508th, while the Knights are ranked 188th).
