The Ketchikan Kings will be taking part in a tournament against the Colony Knights at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ketchikan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Sitka, who was ranked second at the time (Ketchikan was ranked third). The Kings narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wolves 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Kings have posted since April 11th.
The team relied heavily on Vienna Pahang, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Mylee Gray, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Ketchikan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Colony, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Redington get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Emma Minnick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.
Minnick wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alli Morrissey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Morrissey has posted since back in May of 2024. Saibree Noll was another, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Colony pushed their record up to 13-4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Ketchikan, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 8-10-1.
Ketchikan couldn't quite finish off Colony in their previous meeting on Saturday and fell 6-4. Will the Kings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
