If the Sikeston Bulldogs were feeling good off their 62-38 takedown of the New Madrid County Central Eagles on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sikeston fell to Saxony Lutheran 55-50. Sikeston lost against Saxony Lutheran in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 63-34 score last time.
Saxony Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evie Caruso led the charge by scoring 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. That makes it two consecutive games in which Caruso has scored at least 25% of Saxony Lutheran's points. Another player making a difference was Maci Hollis, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Sikeston's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Saxony Lutheran, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sikeston will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Miller Career Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th. As for Saxony Lutheran, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Vincent at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
