After flying high against the Lincoln Northeast Rockets last Saturday, the Lincoln North Star Navigators came back down to earth. Lincoln North Star took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elkhorn South on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Lincoln North Star's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JaKeyce Fowler, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Lazerek Houston, who scored 16 points.
It was another big night for Lincoln Schwarz, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds for Elkhorn South. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schwarz has scored all season. Aidan Skradis was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Lincoln North Star's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Elkhorn South, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln North Star will take on Kearney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kearney's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups. As for Elkhorn South, they will head out on the road to take on Omaha North at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Omaha North will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
