If the Tikigaq Harpooners were riding high off their 92-53 takedown of the McQueen Qavviks two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Tikigaq was outmatched by Hooper Bay on the road and fell 82-55. While losing is never fun, Tikigaq can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Hooper Bay is ranked seventh).
It was another big night for Carson Long, who scored 38 points for Hooper Bay. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Long has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Latrell Lake, who scored 19 points.
Tikigaq's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Hooper Bay, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home.
Tikigaq does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hooper Bay will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Unalakleet at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th.
